DCE Youth Travel Basketball

What is Travel Basketball?

Travel Basketball is a competitive, tryout-based program for players who are ready for a higher level of basketball and a greater time commitment than our recreational Community Ed program.

Travel teams practice during the week and compete against teams from other communities in weekend league games and/or tournaments. Teams are coached by parent volunteers, while the tryout and team selection process is led by DHS Varsity Basketball Coaches.

Because teams are formed through a tryout process, not every player who tries out will be selected for a travel team. Players who are not selected are still encouraged to participate in Community Ed Youth Basketball.

Tryouts & Team Selection

Tryouts are free.

Primary Tryout Date: Sunday, October 4
Makeup Tryout Date: Tuesday, October 6
Specific tryout times by grade are listed below in the registration details.

Players should plan to attend the October 4 tryout. The October 6 date is available as a makeup for players who are unable to attend on October 4. Players only need to attend one tryout.

Teams are formed through the tryout process, with player selections made by DHS Varsity Basketball Coaches. Team selections will be announced by October 26.

The number of teams formed for each age group will depend on the number of players and the availability of parent volunteer coaches.

After teams are selected, Community Education will transfer selected players to their team roster and send registration invoices to parents.
